Sue Detmers

I was born in Salt Lake City to Danish immigrants.  I lived most of my life in SLC, where I met and married my husband Dan Detmers.  We lived for 5 yrs in Twin Falls Idaho, where my two daughters were born.  We moved back to SLC in 1984.  We bought our first Morgan in 1994 from Ross Schaugaard.  A Omar Sheriff daughter.  She taught the whole family to ride.  We bred our mare in 1996, and got a beautiful liver chestnut mare Asgaard Amaretto Mist.  Over time we ended up with 5 Morgans
Victormar Mist (Misty)
Miss Vvictorias Secret (Vikki)
Mary Mels Charlemain (Charlie)
Asgaard Amaretto Mist (Emma)
Asgaard Lil Allegra (Ali)
Vikki was given to my daughter Mimi when she was 18.  She used Vikki for Eventing and  both her and Vikki really enjoyed it.  I would go to her events and take pictures.  Misty and I would ride along while   Mimi and Vikki practice jumping.  Sadly we lost Misty and Ali within a few years of each other.  Misty was 28, but Ali was only 8.  Vikki  just pasted away in 2013.
I join the Rocky Mountain Morgan horse Club in 1996, and in 1999 I became Secretary/Treasurer for the club.   I have been Secretary/Treasurer on and off for 11 years and President for 2 years.   I have been heavily involved in all club matters and ran the Utah Horse Expo booth for 10 yrs.
My oldest daughter Nikki was married in 2003 to Josh Viehweg and in 2005 my youngest daughter Mimi was married in 2005 to Dan Traugott. My first grandson Keegan was born in 2006 to Nikki & Josh and they had a beautiful daughter Carleigh in 2011.
I bred Emma in 2008 and showed her at 4 months pregnant.   She won Halter Mares and the English  Walk/Trot class.  She hadn’t been shown for 8 years.   In 2009, I lost my husband to cancer.  Later that year Emma had her first foal, a filly - Asgaard Jubilee Mist.  Then Emma coliced and had to have surgery right before Christmas.   In 2011 Emma had a colt- Asgaard Glacier Country ( a full sibling to the filly).  I sold both of Emma’s foals in the past 6 months.  So now I am down to 2 horses.  Mary Mels Charlemain who is 30 yrs old and retired at Moonridge Morgans and Emma, who was at Moonridge while she was having babies.  But she is now down here in Bluffdale, where I intend to do a lot more riding and trail riding.
I currently work for Zions National Bank ( Mainframe computer section).  I recently purchased a travel trailer and started to travel more and see our national parks.  I am still learning to live on my own, taking care of the house, yard, horses, work, etc.
